Committee Reports:
Senator Farmer: Yeah – we’re done with elections thank God. We got some feedback about our voting process, particularly reaching out to CS department people to improve
Senator Bercier: What in particular?
Senator Farmer: Mainly with how we are doing write-ins … just so that we can rank them differently instead of just having them third.
Special Business:
VP Crowder: Now we will have a message from soon-to-be president David Fuentes
Senator Fuentes: I thought Senate was a little awkward at first, but I grew to love it. I want to mention things in my twelve-point plan. There are some changes I want to see in Senate. First, I think we can upgrade our attendance to thirty diverse members. Second, I want to bring to attention the student handbook committee, which will be comprised of representatives from all groups on campus. Third, I want to mention the revival of the yearbook, which I talked to Chairman Ko about. Also, I know Senate is taking care of water spickets and ELH cooking appliances. I look forward to working with you all.
Announcements:
VP Crowder: Acousticafe is coming up this week in Thomas Hall.
Chairman Hoekstra: There will be Senate Ice Cream.
Open Forum:
Marty Lane: I’m here today to talk about the new app to help make reservations more accessible. It will not do something different, it will just streamline the reservation process. It is super easy to use, you shouldn’t have to learn something really complicated. Basically, what happens is you go into the app, and it gives you a choice. It shows you the option to create an event. It gives you the option of booking collab rooms, media room, or stair nook. You’re doing a very similar thing as on the desk application but on your phone. What I wanted to talk to you about is
Marty Lane leads a brainstorm discussing campus integration of the Direct Spaces App
Paraphrased Notable Points:
“The app will not do something different; it will just streamline the reservation process.”
Idea: App should extend to the library.
Idea: App should involve at least a few designated rooms in LH or Glaske for works spaces.
Idea: Maybe places like the big round table and the fire pit in the student center can be reserved
“The website and app still have a partnership – if you make a reservation on one it will automatically show up on the other.”
“If you start thinking and talking to your constituents, it would be great if you send information both to me and Cameron”
