Officer Reports:

PPT Moyes: Good morning, thanks for being here. with the agenda, it has not come out because I will be releasing it Wednesday at 12. So, if there is stuff you want brought up, you need to let me know.

Sergeant Rubingh: Jeans are not allowed, but I see people wearing jeans. In the future, you will not be allowed.

Committee Reports:

Chairman Crowder: Student Life Committee had a meeting last night and it went fantastic. Friday ice cream with Heritage people will be expanded. We will do a run at 1:30 today and get ice cream and floor snacks. Pick up your snacks or they will be up for grabs. Looking into BBQ sauce and straws to be available.

Chairman Moore: Spoke with Coach Van and they were not staffing Solheim on weekends with students. He is looking into having students work on the weekends. I’ll keep you up to date.

PPT Moyes: The ECCS text has been sent and it says, “Due to the potential for inclement weather, in person classes will move online at 12:00 today.”

Dr. Conn: Sorry I said that differently.

PPT Moyes: Check your email for professor info.

Special Business:

VP Avent: We have two senators to swear in today.

Senators get sworn in

PPT Moyes: I will discuss with you guys about which committees you’ll be assigned.

VP Avent: You have currently surrendered that power.

PPT Moyes: I motion to grant powers to VP Avent.

Passes

Senator Hofer: Given we have given emergency powers, thunderous applause.

Old Business:

Senator Bright: Will Senator Berry give us an update on the crack map?

Senator Berry: They said due to traffic regularly during the semester, it won’t be fixed until summer. Also, Wanda Davis has the old Polo design so we will order those.

Senator Allen: Can old senators fill out a form and get polos?

VP Avent: Some senators have shirts reserved for them and can order.

New Business:

Senator Hill: I motion to bring a new bill to the floor. ELH Super Bowl Party Funding.

Senator Brown: Can’t floor funds cover this?

Senator Drebot: Yes, but we don’t want to use them all on one thing.

PPT Moyes: Is it for ELH only or non-ELH members.

Senator Hill: It is not exclusive, but we are not advertising to other floors due to lack of food and funds.

Senator Hofer: Would the senate sticker remain on the door after the party?

Senator Hill: The sticker will remain where we put it.

Senator Bright: $500 seems like a lot for this. Which funds will go where?

Senator Drebot: The math is just over $8 a person. I’d say that is reasonable.

Chairman Allen: What kind of food and where would you like the funds allocated?

Chairman Drebot: We would like to use the Walmart card.

Senator Hill: We will be buying hot dogs and burgers. Chips and drinks and stuff too.

Senator Hofer: I understand wanting to save some floor funds, but could you supplement a little of floor funds?

Chairman Drebot: We are trying to avoid making other people pay and worry about finances.

Sergeant Rubingh: Do you know how floor funds work? It is part of tuition and given by the university. Have you talked to your RD? He has a budget for all hall events.

Chairman Drebot: We have talked to our RA, and they agree this is a good idea.

Senator Hofer: Given that we have two weeks, maybe we should set this aside until you talk with your RD?

Senator Allen: I motion to table the bill until next session.

Passes

Senator Ko: I motion to bring a bill to the floor.

Senator Allen: We do have a Walmart, Sam’s, and Amazon card/account. So, you can purchase what you want and then give us your exact cost and that will work.

Senator Hofer: This bill seems fairly reasonable. No senate sticker has ever been shlabba-dabba-dooed on anything. I motion to amend it to shlapped.

Chairman Allen: I move for a division of the house.

Amendment does not pass.

Senator Bright: I move to bring this bill to a vote.

Bill approved.

Senator Berry: Motion to bring the Bad Weather Act of Spring 2022 to the floor.

Senator Bright: Would you explain how responding to a weather event is senates responsibility.

Senator Berry: This just gives go ahead money to respond quickly.

Senator Hill: The problem is that if there is a weather event, how will you get to the store?

Senator Berry: I am willing to drive, I will die for the student body.

Sergeant Rubingh: First you are creating a new position, emergency response officer. Are we to assume you would be the one for the position?

Senator Berry: I was going got nominate Chairman Crowder.

PPT Moyes: We should work with the community we are in and with administration.

VP Avent: Can you give a statement on the nature of what this would be for?

Senator Berry: It is mainly for if SAGA is closed but stores are open.

Chairman Drebot: There is a lot here and it is very vague. You are giving someone $1500 to do whatever they want. I motion to table this until it is properly dealt with.

Passes

VP Avent: Bill is tabled. The appointed emergency response officer would revert to appointment.

Chairman Drebot: Also, where would the senate sticker be shlapped?

Senator Allen: One note is we did get practice last February and SAGA was not closed during that time. We did manage to get through all meals. So, specify what event the bill would be funding.

Chairman Crowder: One thing, I forgot to mention that the isolation network is still a thing. If you want to help, there is an opportunity. There is funding from a previous bill so we can buy food and do games online. I’ll send out the discord link if you want to help. A couple weeks ago there were job opportunities to run food for quarantined students.

Announcements:

Chairman Crowder: Considering recent weather, we are still planning on doing ice cream. We will have all kinds of ice cream bars to add variety. I will update y’all if that changes.

Chairman Drebot: Elections – tomorrow is the last day to get executive cab applications in. the regular deadline is the 9th. We are planning a debate night.

Senator Hofer: We have spoken with SI’s, and they get around 10% of students to attend. 32/58 students expressed interest from a professor poll. We are moving forward with getting an SI for calc.

Senator Allen: I have been talking with Chairman Shaughnessy – I have been busy and stressed so I am giving Shaughnessy the ability to have fun with a leadership position.

Chairman Drebot: Do SI’s fall under our jurisdiction?

Senator Hofer: Sort of…we are speaking with the people who have direct jurisdiction.

Senator Smith: One floor member of mine said the classrooms were locked at 8:30 pm Monday. Wanted to see what we can do.

Chairman Crowder: The reason why it happens is that it was supposed to be followed through with campus police. They do lock and unlock them at certain times. My suggestion is to try to slip in after an SI or after class they will leave it unlocked if you are in there. Is there a particular room wanted open?

Senator Smith: He did not say a specific room, just that they were not previously locked.

Citizen Langley: UPD does only lock certain rooms before the whole building, so check a different room.

PPT Moyes: There are rooms in other buildings with this issue. It might be good to find someone to reach out to UPD for a list of locked rooms.

Senator Allen: EMS should be available to all students, but in the past it hasn’t been. It is a third-party system, and it has problems. I know for a fact that IT has a ticket in with them to see if we can figure out how to get all student’s access.

Senator Berry: Where is the EMS portal located?

VP Avent: You can google it.

Chairman Drebot: ELH is starting to discuss chronic mold in our bathrooms. It is disgusting and we want to fix it. You will hear more from me later.

Sergeant Rubingh: ELH is not the only building with a lot of mold.

Senator Hofer: Senate flame thrower - just putting it out there.

Chairman Gonzales: I motion to recess.
