Committee Reports

Chairman Crowder: We are looking into options for seeing the music choices in ASC. Pandora is the option, or we can see if we can get some more playlists. There is the situation seeing if we can get cash options at the Hive. We are currently addressing this. Today we are doing the ice cream and snack run. Floor snacks and new flavor ice creams.

Chairman Allen: FAC we are working on new documentations for clubs that are actually useful. The only form is asking what they are requesting. We will have that done by the end of the semester.

Chairman Willis: PR&R, regarding the buzz word, we had poetry published. 650 visitors to the website. The Longview news journal is coming to interview me. To the members in PR&R you are welcome to get a picture with me this afternoon. That will be at 1:30 today. We are shutting down and backing everything up on the old website.

Special Business

VP Avent: Senator McKurtis to student life, Senator Wilsea to GoPro and senator Wilson to Student life.

Old Business

Chairman Allen: I heard that the rebar has been taken care of

Senator Bright: I emailed Carline and she had submitted a work order and facilities has taken it out.

Senator Shaughnessy: I found it disappeared the other day.

Senator Eaton: Polos?

VP Avent: I hope to have a signup sheet going around.

Chairman Allen: Do we know how much they will cost?

VP Avent: They come out of the summer funds. So, we don’t have to write a bill. There is so much of our budge that has to be allocated for them.

Chairman Willis: Do we know when the TFO meet?

Senator Bright: They meet October 26. We have one more senate session then the Tuesday after that is when they are meeting

Chairman Willis: Senator bright, I believe we should have things to bring to the facility would you want to bring that up in open forum or send it to you?

Senator bright: If you could send it to me, I am representing senate as a whole I can bring those things.

VP Avent: Speak with your floors

New Business

Announcements

Chairman Crowder: We will have a revamped ice cream tomorrow. Updates all the toppings I am looking forward to tomorrow. There will be ice cream and snack run today at 3:00. We will meet in front of the ASC offices. We will be around until 3:10. Let me know if you want to help

Chairman Allen: It Is spooky month, in the past, we have been able to get floors gaming tables or things that they don’t have floor funds for. We have money this semester. If you think of anything, write a bill about it.

Chairman Willis: As always with the Buzz Word you can write an article. There are some pretty good pictures about HvZ or artwork that have been published.

VP Avent: On Saturday, we will have the cookout. It is a floor competition. Whoever brings the best dessert will win.

Senator Eaton: What time?

VP Avent: 4-6 I believe.

Senator Eaton: Are we going to serve ice cream during that?

Chairman Crowder: I forgot that was an option, we do want to do it we can serve ice cream then? The process of buying ice cream is that we buy two weeks’ worth we can do that.

VP Avent: Dr. Caldwell will be here on the 28th. He is the head of faculty. We can repeat everything from TFO to him.

Open Forum

Senator Bright: It has been a while since we talked about the Glakse classrooms. Is this an ongoing issue?

Chairman Willis: I have not been hearing about that. I met with Dr. Conn about the library hours. We talked about how Dr. Conn has excess in the budget and could transfer the money to the library. In the same way that we could pay for the library to be open. We do not want the school to rely on this in the future. They shouldn’t expect us to pay for what they should be paying for. Our plan is we want to talk to the provost and get them to say that they will revise the budget to make sure the library is open late. If we can get insurances, we would not mind paying to make the library open for longer this semester.

VP Avent: Going back to Glaske, some of the rooms are open even on Sundays I don’t know why. Back to the library, the Provost is coming so we can talk about it then.

Senator Bright: Is this something we could formally appoint someone to have a presentation for?

Chairman Willis: That the data was already gathered, I think he already knows. Students are suffering. I would like to ask him if he has plans.

Senator Drebrot: How much would it cost senate?

VP Avnet: We expect it would be a large chunk of our budget. It is not what we are here for.

Chairman Allen: It is a lot of money; they will expect it again.

Chairman Willis: That is exactly what Dr. Conn and I agreed on. Our tuition should go towards this. As cost go, I think Dr. Conn would help with their budget and we can use some of ours. If we can combine it would reduce the cost. We are going to make sure they have the budget for next year. Even if it was covering for the mistakes of the university, I am sure there was a lot of discussion that went into this.

Senator Berry: You have data on this, can we see this?

Chairman Willis: If you go to the senate website and go to PR&R you can see the presentation.

Senator Ko: Was that $30,000 we mentioned last year, is that for the semester for this year?

Senator Eaton: That is remaining for this semester and will roll over.

Chairman Allen: A point is that I don’t want to spend it all right away. We can get a floor refrigerator. I don’t want to spend it all and have nothing left next semester.

VP Avent: It would be normal for student life to do something during the semester and senate to have a large presence with that, because of covid we have not spent a lot of money. We have not have STING here either.

Senator Naranjo: Can we fund the library to stay open the last couple of weeks of the semester?

Chairman Allen: We can look into that with the last two or three weeks we just don’t want to create an expectation.

VP Avent: during finals week the library ours are extended. That is common to them.

Senator Bright: In light of some of these conversations, when you send out your emails, send what they want brought up to TFO and ask if Glaske classrooms is a still a problem and I can meet with Marty Lane.

VP Avent: Can we get a general list of things to tell TFO. I think classroom policies, and academic polices, advising and maybe even majors and minors.

Senator Bright: Could you clarify what you mean by classroom polies?

VP Avent: Talking about kicking students out of the classroom.

Chairman Allen: On a different note, the punching bag for Solheim will be $200. We had allocated $150. How do I change it?

VP Avent: You can motion to amend the bill.

Chairman Allen: I motion to add $50 to that bill.

VP Avent: We are amending section B.

Senator Berry: How sure are you it will cover it?

Chairman Allen: He has it on amazon right now.

Chairman Willis: Apparently, we have to do something with the old one. There is a citizen who would be able to take it. We could give it to him. Does anyone have any ideas?

Senator Oden: I suggest we put it in Tyler so they can hit that instead of each other.

Senator Hofer: We have a punching bag on floor, and it has decreased violence by 23%.

Senator Eaton: We are still waiting for a motion to amend the bill, if so, may I move that?

VP Avent: The topic of amending has been brought up, but it needs to be called to question or brought to a vote

Senator Branch: I motion to bring to a vote

Chairman Willis: We need to clarify we are buying this ourselves. We need to amend the amendment.

VP Avent: We are now saying we are not transferring this to Solheim funds this is a normal amendment.

Senator branch: I motion to bring the bill to a vote

Bill amended

Citizen Foster: In regards to TFO, what are their opinions on the shorter semester?

VP Avent: we can ask them.

Senator Eaton: I want to bring the topic about the thing on Saturday. Do we need to talk to someone about serving ice cream or can we just show up?

VP Avnet: I can tell President Ryan about it. I would refer it to the student life committee

Senator Branch: I motion to recess

The nays have it

Chairman Willis: First of all, I am an admin on the Buzz app, I have spoken with Hannah Eisen and Steve Conn about having a senate representor on the buzz APP. I am looking for someone to help moderate the buzz app please reach out. I motion to refer that to the student life committee.

Senator Berry: I motion for the division of the house

The ayes have it

Senator Bright: Would chairman Willis be willing to talk about how senate became the buzz app police

Chairman Willis: um no

Senator Drebot: Saga no longer has bbq sauce. Does anyone know when we will get this back?

Senator Hofer: I motion to refer this matter to the student life committee.

Approved

Senator Eaton: I motion to recess
