VP Hancock: We do have the YAC budget but someone else will present next week. Does anyone else have any other special business, resignations?
VP Hancock: Gavin put your hand down.
New Business:
Ice Cream Funding Bill is brought up
Ice Cream Funding Bill passes.
Chairman Smith: Do we know how much was spent on ice cream?
PPT Farmer: Guess not, someone can ask Kaleb
Announcements:
PPT Farmer: Men's rugby game Friday.
Chairman Ko: Blood donations on Friday.
VP Hancock: YAC has laser tag this Friday at YAC time. The career fair and resume workshop are coming up.
Open Forum:
VP Hancock: I know the water fountain movement was dead in the water, but there is a new person in facilities who expressed more openness to change. Some Senate members are scheduled for a meeting, so I want to get the ball rolling on what to talk about. Okay ... since no one is talking, I've heard about several things in Gilbert.
Dr. Conn: Did we talk about things we want to discuss with facilities?
VP Hancock: We were just talking about that.
Dr. Conn: Does anyone have any suggestions, temporary or longer term?
Chairman Zobroski: We do have ice cream this friday, arrive at 3:50
VP Hancock: So as I was saying, there's a lot of mold in Gilbert
Senator Hammers: Mold can be mitigated by just drilling a hole in the wall, who is there to talk to?
Dr. Conn: That is the point of the question.
VP Hancock: Grill me so that I can grill them a bit nicer.
Senator Hammers: I worked in facilities for 9 and a half years, so I just wanted to get a picture of how it works here.
PPT Farmer: The trinities have heating issues
Senator Hammers: For facilities, is it just management? Are there departments for things like irrigation, plumbing, etc?
Dr. Conn: We mostly try to keep things in house but do contract out some worked
Senator Hammers: Tracking
Dr. Conn: You will hear that there have been some issues, not blaming individuals, but there have been resource limits
Senator Toce: I was going to affirm the water fountains, in Tyler Hall, the water pressure isn't great, so having something to fill up to the top would be nice - I am sure I am not alone, just want to affirm what you said with an example
Senator [name missed]: The Thomas hall somehow blows cold humid air
Dr. Conn: How are work orders?
PPT Farmer: I have had a reoccuring problem with my shower for a year
Chairman Mcneil: Work orders are not a high priority, it appears.
Chairman Smith: I went 4 months without a working light switch in the shower
Senator Ross: At KZX we've had work orders falsely marked as completely
Senator Killburn: At AO, we've submitted several work orders and gotten zero feedback
PPT Farmer: For Dr. Conn, do you have any knowledge about how much students can fix things, like a lightswitch shouldn't be too troublesome
Dr. Conn: I would advise against it, just don't... We've had stories of stories about students trying with things like smoke detectors that end up causing bigger issues.
VP Hancock: Can we also please stop it with the flushable wipes
Dr. Conn: Not your target audience
VP Hancock: Does anyone live in South Hall? No? I found out that there wasn't any ventilation near the showers
Senator Kilburn: I lived in South hall for a bit, there is definitely no ventilation, you kind of just hope and pray that there will not be mold
Senator Hammers: Sounds like military barracks
VP Hancock: That's was tyler used to be
Dr. Conn: True
Senator Toce: There is a little bit of mold in Tyler showers, not much compared to others, but it's there
VP Hancock: Fill a work order, and some personal advice, just complain loudly and frequently
Guest Straka: I lived in Tyler 3B, and there was some mold in the ceiling and I felt that later
Guest Garza: In LAS, facilities tried to charge us for a fire pit issues
VP Hancock: We are trying
Senator Hammers: My name is Joseph Hammers, a retired marine. I have had the priveledge of meeting nice students and even more brothers and sisters in the armed forces. I wasn't even going to do this, but Lilith went on stage and said there weren't any commuter senators, so 'son of a gun,' I guess I will do it. I also noticed that there weren't services for veterans, so I was asking if I could also serve as a representative for veterans
VP Hancock: I am interested
Dr. Conn: I am also interested in reviving the veterans association. The reason it died out was just because there wasn't continuity of leadership
PPT Famer: Motion to make Senator Hammers the vetaran liason?
Motion passes
Dr. Conn: Motion to recognize Hammers as the coolest senator name?
Chairman McNeil: Is there a new teacher liason?
PPT Farmer: There is no reason you can't have more jobs.
Chairman McNeil: Cool. Also, we again have a new volunteer tracking program. Ice cream is the most frequent way to participate, but we also have club funding coming up.
VP Hancock: Speaking of which, we are also having Hispanic Heritage Month again, so we need people to man the taco table. You get free tacos.
Motion to recess.
